AccessibilityGuy.com, LLC., is an active commissioner on the Houston Commission on Disabilities for the City of Houston. We evolved into a leading accessibility consulting firm since forming the dba “The Wheelchair Guy” in 1996. In the beginning, the company went in the construction direction of accessibility issues. I personally was appointed in Pasadena to be on a four person panel to write tickets for people illegally parked in the reserved parking area for disabled parking spaces. I was a volunteer and was getting threats from people once I found them illegally parked. Many tickets were being thrown out of court due to technicalities such as the space had no vertically mounted sign in the disabled parking space. I then decided to approach businesses in the area and sold them a reserved disabled parking sign and painted the spaces on the ground. We installed many wood ramps into 
residential homes during this period of growth. This lead the company into the forming and pouring of concrete ramps, installation of grab bars, pipe covers, and even installing platform lifts. In 1999 I had my gall bladder removed and could not continue on the construction path of accessibility. I took a leave from the construction and went to work for an outfit that installed equipment to make vehiclesaccessible and drivable for the disability community. Early on in 2000 I took another turn back into access consulting this time working for an established firm. I worked there long enough to get my Registered Accessibility Specialist License from Texas Department of License and Regulation.
